: unlike the president, biden slammed ryan over romney's infamous comments about the 47% of americans who don't pay income taxes. ryan turned it back on biden. >> i think the vice president very well knows that sometimes the words don't come out of your mouth the right way. [ laughter ] >> reporter: now, there will be a lot of discussion over who was stronger last night. biden or ryan? but i've got to tell you, around here, there was one clear consensus winner. and that was the moderator, martha raddatz, who taught the world what we all know around here, george. you don't mess with martha. >> that is for sure. >> it was a lively time. >> it was. martha, congratulations. you did such a great job. >> thank you. >> here's the question i really want to know. as the debate unfolded, was it the debate you prepared for? the one you saw in your head as you wrote the questions out? >> i think i was surprised that i got in as many followups. and you've done this, george. you try to listen and you try to react to what they're saying. sure, i had a lot of followups written. i had a lot of questions w

attempt to balance the budget. and what ryan and romney are calling is outrageously stupid. what the president is doing is inadequate. >> okay. al? >> good description. nothing partisan about that description. you know, al, the governor brings up a point. i'm not sure that i agree with how he describes the two sides, but i will say that when joe biden -- let's just take these two issues right here. to talk about the stupidity of this campaign. joe biden won't even talk about raising entitlement -- your date of eligibility for entitlements one year despite the fact when fdr set the life expectancy at 62, we're now up, 79, 80, something like that. and you've got three people working for every one person getting these entitlements. and then on the republican side, this $5 trillion tax cut, the numbers don't add up. it doesn't matter what you do. the numbers don't add up. nor does the administration's belief that if you just tax rich guys, you're going to take care of the deficit. it's just -- it's nonsense. >> joe, you're absolutely right. neither side is seriously addressing this.

a victory for the romney side because paul ryan was three years old when joe biden began serving and paul ryan managed to match him. >> this is why i think it is a neck victory for the romney campaign because the momentum is on their side after the last presidential debate, that did not stop last night. it keeps going. i don't think it gathers steam, but did not slow down. dennis: give me a fearless prediction, who wins this election on november 6? >> i'm still sticking with obama, but as i have been saying, romney has the momentum and the battlefield could expand bringing more states in. if you see mitt romney going to more states to campaign and where he is been so far, that is a really good sign for the romney people. dennis: you believe if romney wins it is not good for the market. i had not heard that from very many people. explain yourself. >> if romney is elected, he pledged he would not renominate ben bernanke. the removal of accommodation could come sooner rather than later. dennis: sitting there watching the debate last night, have to tell you the vice president ducking it up wi

for mitt romney and ryan to say. host: were you hired because of the convention and then laid off after word? caller: i was hired away before the convention. but the thing was that i got fired for unnecessary reasons. they were just during layoffs and layoffs at and things. i think obama said it best when he ran in 2008. we're going to go through bad times. you have to go out before you can get good. -- go bad before you can get good. he said this was going to take us some time, but we are going to get through it. it is going to get hard before it gets good. if we unite together and work together as a country. host: we will leave it there. but go to john in long beach. tell us your story appeared caller: i've never voted, but i have -- tell us your story. caller: i have never voted, but i have followed the politics. i grew up in south beach and in alaska. i always wondered why the politicians never talked about the old issues, the war on drugs that kind of thing. i just don't know where we are coming from these days. host: what is a real issue to you? the war on drugs is a real issue? c

at the bit. did paul ryan keep the romney momentum going following the first presidential debate? >> for sure. he handles the debate with class. he was a great debater. he presented his facts and stayed on key even though joe biden was giggling, basically chuckles the clown old-time and was very rude and condescending. the moderator did not help much either. i was not a fan of the moderator at all. tracy: what was the striking statement? what did we learn that could make a difference in the election? >> they each had something but the most important thing for this is i think that paul ryan's overall debate performance made him kind of seal the deal for the romney/ryan ticket. i don't think in actuality and people will be upset when i say this but i don't think this debate is going to determine in the polls -- i don't think you're going to see a bump. i think it will go back to next week's debate when you have the presidential debate and what obama does and how romney performs. this was full of. it is fun to talk about but i don't think it will move one iota in the polls. ashley: you agree wit
